Hero 2 Pirogue

Description

The “Hero 2” Pirogue is our flagship vessel at Bayou Boats. It is constructed out of mahogany Aquatek marine-grade plywood, dry-treated pine (gunwhales/gunnels/keel), and reclaimed heart-pine (seats). It is sealed with several coats of marine-grade epoxy and spar varnish. The seams are sealed with epoxy fillet for maximum durability.

A pirogue is a flat bottomed boat that has been popular in Louisiana for centuries for navigating shallow waters such as swamps and bayous. The flat bottom allows the boat to sit higher in the water and provides maximum stability making it very difficult to flip. It works just as well in deep water like lakes and rivers. The boat can be rowed for a quiet time on the water, and it is sturdy enough to attach an outboard motor for covering longer distances. It can comfortably sit four people, so you can take the whole family out, or pack it full of gear and coolers for fishing or a leisurely float on the bayou.
